Her strength in us

$66.00$110.00

This artwork reflects the 2018 NAIDOC theme as it represents and celebrates bringing to the forefront the strength, determination and achievements of all past, present and future Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. The tree and center circles symbolize the strength of women and their endeavors in protecting, building and sustaining our people and our rich culture. Many women before us have paved the way and provided opportunities through nurturing, supporting, empowering, campaigning, leading and persisting through change as represented by the pebbles in the landscape.

The arms of the tree symbolize our women reaching out to inspire present and future generations, passing on knowledge, strength, and providing guidance for continual growth, with roots embedded in culture and country.

The meeting places surrounding the tree represent the current and future generations of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. Here, the people share stories, celebrate the achievements of our women and continue the journey together to empower, inspire and raise the profile and identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women across the nation. Her strength is in us and because of her, we can!
