Country Illuminated is a story of Breeza on Kamilaroi Country. As kids we travelled to Breeza regularly to visit the resting place of some family members and the place which my Grandmother grew up. There is more and more time in between visiting, however my connection to place is strong and taking my kids back to country and seeing their connections strengthen makes my heart sing.
My cracked earth art style derives from Breeza through examining the country as a young kid and seeing the dry cracked earth under my feet. This particular piece radiates with the dry colours of country, connection pathways and golds to represent the rich culture and history of our connection to Breeza. This piece is also shares the name of my first solo exhibition.
