Layers 2

Layers is a symbolism of the multitude of layers that make up Country. Layers including physical Country, nature and people, and non-physical such as the Songlines and the Dreaming that are embedded in the landscape. Each cracked earth piece tells a story of connection, stretching across and connecting with all other layers, of which we are embedded in. We are part of Country, Country is part of us. We are part of the Dreaming, the Dreaming is part of us. Learn to be still, listen and notice to see the layers that encompass all that we are.
I challenged myself with this piece, where I had a random colour selector choose only 3 colours for me to create with. Though allowing some control and using black and white to manipulate the shade of the colours, the process of painting this and taking the choice of colour palette out of my hands I relate to the layers of complexity around knowledge and sharing, connecting with those who truly want to learn and guide them through several layers to truly see who we are and how we see the world. I too, am still on a learning journey, and am continually moving through the layers to discover the stories of my Ancestors.
