Banaga-y

Banaga-y (flow) is an illustration of water flowing through Country, harmonising with the creative flow of my ideas, thoughts and feelings. This piece pays homage to the beginning of my creative journey as a child, putting texta to paper and just creating what ideas flowed until the page was full. The same for this artwork, after being on Country, and being in the moment, I pushed myself to let go of the meticulous planning that goes into the majority of my works, and just created what came to mind next.
This work encompasses many of my styles, some in patches, some flowing through others, and features my cracked earth in block colour. Though banaga-y is painted primarily in white over a brown earth background, the bronze shimmer through the flowing water brings another dimension, as if you are there on Country, watching the water flow down the stream, in its own way, on to its next journey.
